Make a photograph with a photograph. Find a
cherished print and compose it in a larger scene.
My grandmother got a packet of classic art
posters for free from some charity and gave
us the prints.
One of them was Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa".
Leonardo painted one of his
best know works of art, Mona Lisa (also know
as La Gioconda or La Joconde) circa 1503-
1519. The painting now hangs in Musee du Louvre,
Paris, France.
It is widely regarded to be the most popular painting
in the world and its fame only flared up
on Aug 21 1911 when it was stolen from Louvre
by a employee of the museum, one
Vincenzo Peruggia. The Italian patriot believed
an Italian's work should be hung in an Italian
museum. After the painting was missing for two
years people thought it was lost forever. But
Peruggia grew impatient and was caught trying
to sell the painting. He was praised for his
patriotism in Italy and only served 6 months in
prison for his crime.
The painting is 30" tall and 21" wide.
