My grandfather and Hood got up early to have
eight o'clock pancakes. As for the rest of us we woke
up at the more reasonable time of nine o'clock.
The RV camp we were staying at wasn't very far from
The Great Sand Dunes national park.
We stopped by the visitor center before heading to the
sand. From my understanding the way most people get to
the Dunes is coming in through the picnic area, however
the first day we were there there was a role over accident.
there were a group of fire men directing traffic toward the
horse trail leading to the Dunes.
There were much more people at the Dunes then I had expected
there to be which can be an obstacle for ones such as my self
who's mind sets are to take lots of photos.
Unfortunately for the photographer in the photo above I was
not trying to excluded him from my photo but rather
make him the target of.
The fire burning near by has closed down several hiking
trails that surround the area as well as scattered
ashes in the sand.
We didn't get very far into the Dunes. In fact we didn't get but
few feet off the trail before the cloud started to drip on us.
As we headed back to the car I stop to take a photo of
of the blooms on the prickly pairs.
