This is my favorite painting given to me by my
sister my last B-day.
It was painted in 1942 by an artist named Edward Hopper.
In the 40's the more popular stile of painting's
were more colorful usually abstract art, fruit and flower
arrangements, country and home life. Edward was
not interested in this type of art, he felt that real life scenes
were fine even if they were somewhat sad. He was influenced
by a group called the "Ash Can School" who rejected the art
consider popular at that time. Ash Can artists were picked
on by the critics back then, they referred to the paintings
as something you may find next to garbage cans.
